The altar is the focus of the Mass and represents the presence of Christ during the ceremony.
We have volunteers that keep the altar area beautiful with flowers, decorations and changing of banners and altar linens as the liturgical seasons change.
It also includes washing and ironing the small altar linens, such as the purificators used during Mass to wipe the precious blood off the chalice.
We are blessed with humble individuals who give of their time and talents. If you are interested in helping, please don't hesitate to contact the office.
Any child, teen, or adult who has made their their First Communion and are in grade 3 and above can assist the priest and deacon during Mass. If you are attending Mass, why not consider this ministry?
Altar servers assist during weekend Masses and adult servers may be asked to assist Father at funerals when there is no deacon present.
Training is held on a rolling basis. If you have questions about what is required, please contact Fr. Juan or Deacon Mark.
Extraordinary Ministers of Communion serve the Body and Blood of Christ at Mass and to the sick and homebound.
Eucharistic Ministers may be installed by the pastor with the authorization of the Bishop. The ideal candidate is a confirmed Catholic who has an understanding of the Eucharist and an appreciation of the importance of the Eucharist in the life of the Church.
To undertake this ministry requires a prayerful awareness of the gift of the Body and Blood of Christ in your own lives and a willingness to share that gift. Training takes place at various times during the year as needed so if you are interested in becoming part of this rewarding ministry please contact Fr. Juan or Deacon Mark any time.
Eucharistic Ministers are not taxed for time since it is a ministry that happens during the weekly Mass. You are able to set your days with each new Ministry Schedule. A great way to be involved!
EUCHARISTIC MINISTER TO THE HOMEBOUND
If you regularly come to Mass and are willing to help bring communion to our homebound parishioners, please contact Fr. Juan for more information on this rewarding and very essential ministry.
Greeters are parish volunteers, including children with their parents or young adults, who warmly welcome parishioners as they enter the Church for Mass. Some of our current greeters are Hospitality Committee members as well.
If you're at Mass 15-20 minutes early why not offer to be a friendly face to welcome fellow parishioners? No planning or long-term commitment is required and there are no meetings! What could be easier?
Ushers are parish volunteers who help during the collection. They also assist people to their seat during congested Mass times, if necessary. Our current ushers have been serving us for many years. If you are interested in being an alternate to help at the Mass you usually attend, please talk to the current to let them know.
Our St. Anthony Hospitality Committee is a group of volunteer parishioners who coordinate social activities (yes, centered around food) and gatherings after Masses during the year including special socials that occur after events like our St. Anthony Novena or during Lent, Easter, or Christmas. The Committee meets as necessary to plan for the events where they serve light refreshments and offer the opportunity for parishioners to enjoy each other's company in a relaxed atmosphere.
If you don't want to be part of the Committee but would still like to help, they are occasionally looking for people to help with set-up or food for the socials, such as baked goods or other light fare. If you are a baker or cook, this is an easy way to lend a hand when they need help!
For information contact Patty Martin or the church office.
Any confirmed adult who would like to proclaim the Word of God at Mass can be a lector at Mass and other services.
If you have a strong speaking voice please consider this ministry. You will receive a Lector Workbook that will help to prepare you for your readings. It will have pronunciation for those hard-to-say biblical names! Contact the church office. No special training is needed. We would be very happy to have a few new voices! Think about it...
Join together in song with Judith Allardice, our keyboard & organ player, and our volunteer choir that sings at the 10:30 Mass weekly. They sing during Holy Days during the liturgical year as well. No special talent is needed. If you like to sing, consider joining the Choir!
Do you know someone who plays the organ and/or keyboard and is willing to volunteer to play on Saturday's for at least one Mass a month? Send us an email.
If you or someone you know is in need of prayers, please let us know.
The St. Anthony Prayer Line Ministry began over 20 years ago. We are a group of volunteers, young & old, who are dedicated to praying for the intentions of others in our daily prayer. This is intercessory prayer which is not a particular type of prayer but rather any prayer offered up for another person's intentions. This ministry is a silent but powerful ministry!
If you have an intention for yourself, or someone you know, please fill out the contact us to leave your request.
You may use a person's whole name (only with their prior permission), or you can use a first name with or without a last initial or just initials. We strive to be very mindful of privacy. If you choose, you can leave a BRIEF description of the intention. Examples would be: upcoming surgery, terminal diagnosis, addiction, employment, etc. Intentions are emailed out to our members approximately once weekly.
If you would like to become a member of the Prayer Line, contact the office. All that is needed is a valid email address and a willingness to keep the intentions private.
None of us is as powerful as all of us praying as a community of faith.
Duties include preparing the altar for Mass and clearing the altar following Mass, unlocking and locking the church doors as well as tending to the candles for the altar and tabernacle area. We currently have a sacristan for the weekday Masses.
Eucharistic Ministers & deacons help on the weekends but if you are interested in learning about this and are willing to commit to a particular time/Mass on the weekend please contact the church office. You do NOT need to be a Eucharistic Minister. Help is always appreciated!
